Science Fair Exhibit "The (in)competent assistant"
What is is about?
I had the opportunity to develop a exhibit for several AI-based science fairs in Germany. Hereby the aim was to present the deficits of modern voice assistants and furthermore the shortfall that mostly the users have to adapt towards the system and that therefore, the interaction is quite inflexible. To accomplish this in a playful manner, I designed a quiz game similar to "Who wants to be a millionaire" with the only difference that instead of a telephone or 50:50 joker the users have a Amazon's Alexa as a joker to get help in answering the questions.
Thereby, the questions were designed in such a way that Alexa is not able to give the answer directly. Thus, the visitor has to ask for partial steps or reformulate the question. Furthermore, a time constraint of 30 sec is used.
Science Fairs
So far, the exhibit has been installed at different science fairs all over Germany:
- MS Wissenschaft 2019, Ausstellung zum Jahr der Wissenschaft 2019 - KI, May - October 2019
- AI&WE* Convention 2019, November 2019
- Deutsches Museum Bonn, Mission KI, September 2020 - September 2022
- Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden, Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning Human Dreams, November 2021 - August 2022
